The Cerasuolo di Vittoria
The Cerasuolo di Vittoria is a red wine made in a big area of Ragusa's province and in Caltanissetta and Catania's province as well.
This is an area with an ancient culture about wine, we have a lot of documents made in the III century b.C. as a prove.
Nevertheless the born date od the Cerasuolo di Vittoria actually it's late: it's born togheter with the city (Vittoria) in 1606; the founder of the city gave an hectare of land each citizen if they would cultivate another one as wine.
In 1933, with the Siena Market's exposition, the Cerasuolo di Vittoria became a product of national trade. It came form grapes caming from 40 % Frappato, 60 % Nero d'Avola and sometimes we add no more then 10% of Grosso Nero and/or Nerello Mascalese.
